Yesterday's child

It seems like only yesterday she was playing with all her toys

But now she has grown up and is talking about kissing boys

I have to face the fact that my yesterday’s child is now gone

She is almost a grown up and getting ready to move on

It won't be long now, soon all of her innocence will be lost

As she grows to be a woman, her childhood will pay the cost

What has happened to my yesterday's child

The one who could melt my heart when she smiled

Those days with my little girl are done

She is growing up to be a woman

Pretty soon she will be some other guy's

And it brings a tear to this father's eyes

That sad day is fast approaching I know

But I am not ready to let her go

I am now missing my yesterday's child

I bought her first outfit, the one that coming home, she had worn

I can still remember hearing the first words that she could talk

And seeing it happen before my eyes is not that much fun
